I’d been in manufacturing for 22 years when, in 2009, the company I worked for closed its doors. Looking to continue my career, I landed as the Master Scheduler at Skilcraft in January of 2011 and never looked back. I work every day getting work orders to the production people for the fulfillment of customer demand. I also set parameters in our system for inventory levels and scheduling to facilitate our goal of lean production.
My role here is demanding, but never boring. We have a great team at Skilcraft and strive to help each other reach all of our goals. I really enjoy working for a smaller company where I know I can make a difference – suggestions get implemented, not buried in red tape.
My proudest moment at Skilcraft came in November of 2012. After working with the shop floor people all year on the importance of accurate data entry, we had the most accurate physical inventory in the history of Skilcraft. The team really took pride in their quality data entry, just like their quality workmanship, and it showed.
Outside of work I like to spend time with my kids and grandkids. I challenge my mind with reading and word games. I’ve been making candles, soaps and air fresheners since 2003, and I do a couple of craft shows each year.
